Supporting the Learner Profile

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) believes in order to make an internationally minded student, we must focus on the Learner Profile as we develop positive attitudes towards people, learning and the environment. Charles Hay school behavior systems are built around the Learner Profile.  We strive to instill these traits in our students throughout all aspects of the day.  We celebrate students who demonstrate the Learner Profile throughout all aspects of learning and reinforce with “I See IB” stickers, tickets and weekly school-wide drawings.

As IB learners, Charles Hay students and staff strive to be:

Inquirers - We ask thoughtful questions and demonstrate curiosity. We love to learn!
Knowledgeable - We explore big ideas and learn about ourselves and the world.
Thinkers - We solve problems creatively and ethically.
Communicators - We express ideas creatively and work well with others.
Principled - We are honest and fair.
Open-minded - We are comfortable with differences and appreciate and respect other points of view and ways of doing things.
Caring - We are sensitive to others and believe it is important to help others.
Risk-takers - We have the courage to explore new things and confidently share our experiences.
Balanced - We understand the importance of intellectual, physical and emotional balance.
Reflective - We think about our own learning for continuous improvement.
